The Marine Technician program is ideal for entry-level participants interested in pursuing a career in the marine service industry. This program will provide an entry-level overview of all the marine systems seen locally and will become a foundational building block for future success in the industry. Topics covered in this program include boat handling, shop safety, theory of internal combustion, marine electrical systems, outboard engines, inboard engines, electrical installation, drive systems, boat trailers, marine electronics, and marine plumbing.

Upon Successful Completion
- Students will have the opportunity to earn the Marine Service Technician Certificate from The American Boat & Yacht Council.
- Students will have the opportunity to earn M-Tek certifications from Mercury Marine.
Occupational Outlook
According to the Bureau of Labor, overall employment of small engine mechanics is projected to grow 4 percent from 2023 to 2033. The average annual wage for small engine mechanics was $46,500 in May 2023.
